Couch White’s Corporate & Commercial Transactions Group recently represented Fullstack Academy, a pioneering, Y Combinator-backed coding academy headquartered in New York City, in the acquisition of The Starter League, a competing coding school located in Chicago. The acquisition is Fullstack’s first expansion into the Midwest after years of growth in Manhattan and attracted significant national media attention, including a Chicago Tribune article discussing the deal.
The Couch White team, led by Brian P. Murphy, provided general counsel to Fullstack throughout the transaction and led the negotiation and successful closing on behalf of Fullstack. In commenting on the transaction, Brian noted, “This transaction is a perfect example of Couch White’s ability to marry day-to-day counseling of growth-oriented businesses with the negotiation and consummation of complex and significant corporate transactions. It is also representative of the Firm’s continued growth with respect to mergers & acquisitions transactions and the representation of local and regional technology companies.”
